RETROGRADE EJACULATION
In retrograde ejaculation, the semen does not flow out during ejaculation, but into the bladder. This is caused by the sphincter muscle at the neck of the bladder not closing properly. The semen is therefore later excreted with the urine.
The sperm can still be used for fertility treatment. To do this, the bladder is flushed with a special solution before ejaculation. The sperm cells are then extracted from the bladder contents, processed in the laboratory, and can thus be used for artificial insemination.
This means that even men with retrograde ejaculation can contribute to fulfilling their desire to have children - without surgery.
